Soul gems and grief seeds

I had no idea what to post so I thought I would start with basic definitions, specifically ones related to IRL puella magis

What is a Soul gem?

a soul gem is the holding place of a Puella magi’s soul and where they derive their powers from. When you contact Kyubey(or whatever other familiar or incubator you choose) and make a contract, your normal soul will be taken and stored inside a soul gem.

Soul gem pollution

As you use your powers, experience despair or other negative emotions your soul gem will begin to become polluted and cloudy as a result. The more polluted a soul gem is, the weaker the puella magi’s abilities are.. some magi’s even experience physical and mental symptoms when their soul gem is near full pollution. It is vital to try to make sure your soul gem stays as least polluted as possible, the purer the better.

what is a grief seed?

a grief seed or witches egg is basically a witch equivalent of a soul gem, they come into existence when a puella magi neglects purifying their soul gem and lets it fully pollute. They are also what’s dropped by a witch after you take them down.

why is it called a witches egg?

though the circumstances and things it takes to happen are unknown, if it’s left alone long enough it will hatch a witch.

grief seed uses and disposal

a grief seed can be used to purify a polluted magi soul gem, as a result these are absolutely VITAL to the survival of a puella magi. Once a puella magi has used a soul gem, if is not consumed by an incubator/familiar it will hatch the same witch again.

Contracted! 💖

Hi lovelies! Tonight I'm making an attempt to contract! I'm going to try a few methods, such as divination, summoning via a circle, and astral projection 🍀

I will update, and (hopefully) I will come back an official magical girl!

UPDATE!!:

So, last night on 10/4/24, I attempted to and successfully contracted! I went to sleep at around 10:34 P.M. and woke up at 4 A.M. to astral project! Unfortunately I was unable to, so I woke myself up a bit enough to cast a circle and channel an incubator with a scrying mirror! When the smoke started to shift over the glass, I saw a figure similar to Kyubey, but he was lavender and had white eyes, so maybe it was someone different. I stated my desire to contract and made my wish with my soul gem item in the circle, and then the smoke cleared and the incubator disappeared. Just when I thought I failed, I felt a sharp pain in my chest and a pulling, like my soul was being pulled out. It hurt, and I felt EXHAUSTED after. Right now I still feel really sick ;-;

Studying Madokami 🩷 🌟 🤍

so, recently, I believe I’ve been contacted by madoka, and I would like to create a journal for myself. I’ll be doing research to help make a guide for Puella magi practitioners. So if you want to follow along, I’ll be using the “studying madokami” tag on my blog!

entry one, how I first met Madoka:

in truth, I wasn’t attempting to contact Madoka tonight. I was trying to contact Kyubey, as I am still trying to contract. Rem from the magi metro discord server suggested I should use binaural beats to astral project, so I listened to them, and after around fifteen minutes I started to feel as though something were being implanted in my brain. The numbers 9 and 12, the words “and you’re my favorite!” Over and over again. When I asked if she was Kyubey and if I could contract, she said that she couldn’t, because of “cuts” which I believe was referencing my sh. Later on, I heard something again, a deep voice murmuring something. “The beginning of our friendship” and “it’s my mission.”

what I believe this means:

the numbers 9 and 12 could easily be connected to madokami. The number 9 is, according to my research, connected to cycles, specifically the end of cycles. And 12 means new beginnings as well as cosmic god stuff iirc. Together, the angel number 912 means to be persistent and never give up. I suppose it could mean she’s encouraging me along my mahou shoujo journey, but I believe she’s visiting me because of my depression. The way she framed it as her mission, maybe she believes that she needs to save me. She wants me to persist and not give in to the urges to sh. I believe that she might be attracted by those who have despair in their souls.

contracts and wishes (plus unbearable pain)

This is a rush post but i wanted to talk about contracts

What is a contract? A contract is basically more or less what a puella magi deal with an incubator, contracts may have many terms and conditions.. some fair and some unfair. Most incubators won’t let you write or see the contract but some may make exceptions if you’re lucky to find a “defect.” If your contract has succeeded you will feel a sharp pain, for me it was one akin to being stabbed.

Contracts usually go as the following:

you(the mahou) recite your wish, the incubator decides if they want to grant it. Once it is decided that they will grant your wish the incubator will take your soul and put it inside your desired object, transforming it into your soul gem in the process then you’re done.

Post contract once you’ve signed your contract your wish will start to manifest, you will also gain all your other puella magi abilities along with gaining an easier way to track witches and find labyrinths..

you will also likely get pretty badly sick, its normal considering before your contract your soul was in your body and now its not. You may be sick for anywhere from a few hours to a few weeks depending on your body.

witch logs 1

ive fought lots of witches but im going to start keeping logs!! earlier on a hunt i found a witch, a familar and another possible witch tonight i will fight the confirmed witch tonight!

i astral projected to the witches labyrinth, when i entered it was a long hall made oit of tree routes with lots of paths and weird paper things that jump out at you, these arent the familiars though they are weird little stick figures with one weird multicolored eye that makes up their whole head, there where slightly less familiars then other labyrinths ive been to, using my soulgem i tracked down the witch, the room it was in is a giant dome made of tree roots they where black this time thought snd everything was dark execpt for the glowing eyes on the walls, there was a small island in the middle where the witch was, its first form was a skinny tree with a cartoonishly large nest and bird eggs, after i attacked the eggs nothing happend so i cut the tree down with my scythe, thats when the flower hydra emerged, i cut off a bunch of jts heads but they kept growing back and jts limbs kept flinging at me, eventually i used the bombs on my scythe to make a fire and light my scythe on fire, dodging the flower heads i cut the stem while the scythe was on fire and got the greif seed!!! this fight couldve gone faster but im rusty 😭

I did a whole shitton of identification to double check and then she dragged me to fight a witch I'd found yesterday

I'm glad I had her help this witch was a real pain in the ass. I don't think I would've been able to handle it alone
